Although it is important to identify where we are now, it is not enough to stop there. We need to reflect upon how we can develop the skills where we are less confident and how we can transfer the skills in which we are confident and competent.

Activity 2

Complete the audit below, using the information from the table above.

Recognition Reflection Action
Skills already developed How will I use these How do I know (evidence)**
Time Management  I will use this throughtout uni to ensure i am always on time for lectures and tutorials as well as meeting deadlines for assignments and essays. I feel this is very important to be efficient and to do the best you can.  I will also use this throughout placement where being on time is extremely important and lesson planning must be done on time.   I know this  because I arrive on time to every lecture and tutorial ready to work.  On placement i arrived early to ensure i was there with enough time to prepare my lessons everyday to be organised and well equipped which prevents time wasting.
Group Work  I can use this throughout group tasks and activities in uni when a group of us is formed. It is also useful on placement when  teachers give advice or are asked to do something collectively.  I know this because every task we are given as a group is completed efficiently and successfully and every member of the group listens to one another as well as taking part and contributing.
Confidence  I can use this throughout group activities and tasks in uni to put my point across and suggest useful points.  It can also be used largely throughout placement to teach lessons from a small group to having a full day of responsibility with the whole class.  I know this because through the group activities in uni i am able to put forth ideas and suggestions.  During placement my confidence grew massively simply down to continual practice in front of the class.  By the end of placement i was able to teach the class for at least 1 full day which required a lot of confidence which i has grown over the past 6 weeks.
Organisation  I can use this during uni to ensure everything is prepared and ready to go and tutor directed tasks are all completed to ensure i am learning to the best of my ability.  I can use this also during placement as you must be organised to have your lessons ready and all your props out for the children.  I know this because all my tutor directed tasks and  work given is completed and my uni work is neat and organised.  Throughout placement without being organised and displaying the learning outcome and objective for example, the class would be confused and struggle as a whole to understand what the purpose of the lesson was.
Imagination/Creativity  I can use this during placement through expressive arts as i can introduce new and exciting ideas to the children.  This can be in the form of arts and crafts, to drama with role play. I can also use this in other subjects of the curriculum by simply teaching it in a new, innovative, creative way to engage the pupils.  I know this because throughout placement i introduced a new arts and crafts idea to the whole class where they drew a self-portrait and filled the colour in with small pieces of coloured newspaper and magazine.  All the children loved it and had never seen it before.  They were very engaged and enthused throughout the whole task which clearly shows they love unique ideas.
Leadership  I can use this on placement because as a teacher, you should have that level or authority and control.  This means you must have a level of leadership to ensure each individual knows what to do during the lesson and all the needs of the children and continuously met.  I know this because during lessons the children would sit engaged and focused.  They would follow instructions well and respected me as a teacher.

** This section should be completed as you identify when/where/how you have used/developed these skills.
