The Early Years RIC Sub Group met last week to discuss and evaluate the event “It’s a Good Time to be Two” which took place on 12th Feb for staff who work with two year old children across the RIC.
The feedback from attendees has been extremely positive especially in giving people the opportunity to network and share across the four authorities. There was a request for more training on Improvement Methodology. The feedback will be analysed in further detail and a plan for the way forward will be created.
The Early Vocabulary Sub Group met last week to share the work from the CYPIC Language Meets Literacy Practicum. We heard the journey of the West Lothian team who focused on Collaboration for Improvement in Early Intervention and Prevention.
New schemas resource incorporating downloadable summary sketch, video and powerpoint for use with parents and carers now available from Parentzone website
The Care Inspectorate is encouraging care services across Scotland to bring together younger and older people for everyone’s benefit.
A new resource full of good practice examples is being launched to give care services ideas on how to bring generations together in a variety of care settings in a way that improves the quality of their lives.
The third round of the Scottish government’s Early Learning and Childcare Inclusion Fund will open to applications at 12 pm on Monday 4th February 2019.
The ELC inclusion fund provides funding to ELC settings to support children with ASN access their funded ELC entitlement. It funds staff working in ELC settings to receive appropriate training and fund resources, equipment and adaptations. The ELC inclusion fund is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by children in Scotland.
The application deadline date for the third round of funding will be 5pm on Friday 22 February 2019.

Our Early Vocabulary and Language Sub Group met last week. We have been engaged in a harvesting of work to share practice across the RIC. Sound bites of initiatives have also been created to inform practitioners of interventions. Will update with sharing arrangements as soon as these have been finalised.
Looking forward to meeting two year old practitioners across the RIC at the event on 12th February in FV College (Stirling Campus). It will be a fantastic opportunity to share good practice and learn together.
