  1. I really like the video but I’m afraid it won’t play in Internet Explorer. Works fine in Firefox but our schools don’t have Firefox! Any solutions?

  2. Hiya Ron,

I am able to view the videos using internet explorer. Is it giving you an error message when you try to watch the video?

  3. Hi Sarah,

The error says, “Navigation to the webpage was canceled”. I get the same error at home and in Stirling schools. Seems to be a known issue on forums.

  4. Ok, I’ve solved it. Prior to the “Navigation to the webpage was canceled” message, I get the “Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?” message. I would normally select “yes” but have found that selecting “no” allows the video to display. Not the ideal scenario but at least I can now make people aware of it if they want to view the video.

  5. Hi Ron

Can I ask if you are using Internet Explorer 8? With IE6 and IE7 you would normally say ‘yes’ to the secure/non-secure question but with IE8 Microsoft have reversed the question and yes now means no and vice versa!

  6. The delivering mixed content via IE 7+ can often be an issue and I know how difficult particualry in schools, it is to get access to change these settings. If you can turn this option to ‘enable’ in IE Security settings it will, in 99% if cases, sort the issue.

This is also a good fix for Glow Learn resource issues where pictures fail to display. Hope that helps.

  7. It is helpful to hear how your school is beginning to track your pupils’ progress and how staff are storing the evidence of learning electronically. It is encouraging that as a staff you are thinking about a wide range of ways you might evidence pupils’ learning and also how this information and your tracking system might be used to ease transition whether it be from one year group to another/from nursery to primary/ from primary to secondary.
Thanks for sharing your emerging practice with others.

  8. Just listened to your blog. We are going to be looking at Assessment in our Improvement Plan next year so found what you had to say very useful. Thanks for that.
