Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres are running an exciting competition for secondary students interested in architecture.
Coinciding with their new exhibition at The Lighthouse, Maggie’s would like to invite students to submit their own design for a cancer caring centre to be displayed in The Lighthouse in October 2011.
Winners will be invited to the opening of the new Maggie’s at Gartnavel
Hospital, designed by world renowned architect Rem Koolhaas, and will win a work experience placement with Reiach & Hall Architects in Edinburgh.
Students can enter as individuals or teachers can enter a class. Closing date is 23rd September 2011.
A five day workshop for students aged 16 – 18 interested in learning more about the design process. Students will gain experience based on working architectural practice responding to a brief linked to the development of the Commonwealth Games sites around Glasgow. They will be able to gain skills in Photoshop, Sketchup and in modelmaking, developing an idea from brief to presentation. A great introduction to architecture and a headstart for those considering going on to further study.
