Portfolio Building Course

An intensive four day course on every Saturday in November for students thinking of applying to study architecture at university. Students will gain insight into what universities look for in their applicants and receive help with putting together a quality portfolio. A popular course which fills up fast! Architecture Academy

A 3-day taster course in the October holiday for those considering going on to study architecture. Students will gain an insight into architectural study and complete a portfolio ready mini project. Another popular course which fills up fast! Further details are available here.

Free teacher CPD

‘High Street Stories’ is an exciting, interdisciplinary project for upper primary/lower secondary students in the same vein as our very successful ‘Model School’ project. The training workshops provide the resources, understanding and confidence needed for teachers to bring the project to life and teach children how places shape lives. Reminder: Maggie’s Competition

Two weeks to go until the deadline for the Maggie’s Architectural competition related to their exhibition at The Lighthouse. A great project for a standard grade or higher art class and a great prize for someone interested in architecture. More information is available here.

Maggie’s Architectural Competition

Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres are running an exciting competition for secondary students interested in architecture.

Coinciding with their new exhibition at The Lighthouse, Maggie’s would like to invite students to submit their own design for a cancer caring centre to be displayed in The Lighthouse in October 2011.

Winners will be invited to the opening of the new Maggie’s at Gartnavel
Hospital, designed by world renowned architect Rem Koolhaas, and will win a work experience placement with Reiach & Hall Architects in Edinburgh.

Students can enter as individuals or teachers can enter a class. Closing date is 23rd September 2011.

Summer Streets – Active Architecture Summer School

Book now for our exciting summer school for 9 – 12 year olds. This week long workshop will keep them entertained and teach valuable skills for budding designers. Including large scale building this is an exciting summer holiday activity.

Portfolio Building Course!

Education Workshop

Our Portfolio Building course starts this Saturday, 6th November, and runs for the next 4 Saturdays. 15 young people hoping to apply for Architecture courses at University will be taking part in the free workshops in which they will learn skills and techniques to help them create a quality portfolio and presentation for University interviews. Architecture for Everyone Workshop

11th – 15th October              FREE

A five day workshop for students aged 16 – 18 interested in learning more about the design process. Students will gain experience based on working architectural practice responding to a brief linked to the development of the Commonwealth Games sites around Glasgow. They will be able to gain skills in Photoshop, Sketchup and in modelmaking, developing an idea from brief to presentation. A great introduction to architecture and a headstart for those considering going on to further study.
