Maggie’s Centres Design Competition Glow Meet
Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres are running an exciting design competition for pupils interested in architecture. Open to standard grade and higher students this is an opportunity to work on a design project which could be used as coursework or a portfolio piece. The challenge is to design a Maggie’s centre that combines visionary architecture with an informal and domestic feel.
This Glow meet, organised by Architecture + Design Scotland, gives teachers an opportunity to learn more about the competition and get ideas and support for teaching architecture in the classroom from Stone Opera architect Hanneke Scott-van Wel. There is a great prize for students interested in making architecture a career and an opportunity to have work featured in an exhibition at The Lighthouse.
“Maggie’s Centres are designed by some of the world’s leading architects. We understand the importance of good architecture and design and the difference our centres can make to people with cancer and their family and friends. We feel it is very important to demonstrate the difference good architecture and design can make and hope to inspire students to learn more about Maggie’s and architecture by designing their own centre”.
Join us on Wednesday 20th March at 4pm to get some great ideas for using architecture in the classroom. For more architecture related resources, information and ideas please visit Architecture + Design Scotland’s glow group here and website here.
