Two Stars and a Wish

As a class, we practiced our digital literacy skills today. We prepared “two stars and a wish” feedback for three blog posts by primary school aged pupils in England. The 100 Word Challenge website has links to a plethora of blog posts written by school aged pupils. We discussed ideas with our classmates and then practiced writing feedback in our literacy jotters.

The blog posts we read were from StanleyJake F and Lewis H (click on the names to visit the blogs).

Next steps: Adding blog comments to the posts we read. This will help us develop our ICT skills. By commenting on the blogs of others we are “paying it forward” and I hope children and adults will come to read (and comment on) our blog posts.

  1. Hi Newtonhill P5,
I enjoyed reading these 100 word stories. Here are some suggestions for future writing. Just pick one of these and try using it:
    1. With 100 words you haven’t got much time to build the story. Try using very short sentences. For dramatic effect. Try it. Now!
    2. Reread you stories and pick a few adjectives or verbs and look for synonyms. Play with new words you discover. Test these out with friends.
    3. Try borrowing ideas from you favourite authors. Roald Dahl used nonsense words. Investigate the techniques your favourite authors use.
    Good luck!
