Glasgow 850 years!

Primary 5B had a great time today making up modern day poems based around the Wee Malkies. Their ideas were good.

Then everyone made their pictures about Glasgow, followed by jellie pieces and a drink in the sun. 🌞     Mrs. Jodah

P2a Glasgow Day

This week primary 2a continued learning about the past. In the playroom the class were drawing video game characters, watching old cartoons, exploring the museum and watching old music videos then creating their own dances.

In maths they were learning about sequences, they completed and created their own creative sequences.

We celebrated Glasgow day by first creating excellent instructions on how to make a jeely piece. The children later got to make their own to enjoy. The class also looked at famous Glasgow landmarks and drew their own.

This week in p5a

This week we have been exploring strategies for more complex division calculations, we have been learning about sustainability and conservation and thinking of ways that we can help in our school grounds and were able to use this for our writing planning. We have continued with our active stations linked to this in creative enquiry too. We have been working hard to look after our plants this week, and used them as inspiration for art where we created realistic sunflowers using different media. On Glasgow day we listened to a Glaswegian poem called The coming o the wee Malkies , we had to work out the Glasgow dialect to work out what it all meant! We then wrote our own replies ‘revenge on the wee Malkies’ in the same style. We also made  Jeely pieces and had a picnic outside with them, we then researched famous Glasgow landmarks and made a postcard about them. What a busy week!

Glasgow 850

P4a had a fantastic day celebrating Glasgow’s 850th year!
We wrote acrostic poems, sang famous Glasgow songs, and enjoyed a classic jeely piece!
Have a read of some of our brilliant poems about our amazing city.

Lets Go Fly a Kite – P1c

Over the past few weeks, the children have be using the story ‘STUCK’ by Oliver Jeffers to explore literacy. They have been answering comprehension questions, predicting, and will be reviewing this book for our response writing next week. For homework the children were challenged to construct and design their very own kites. The final results were incredible. Well done P1c!

History Detectives – P1c

This week the children have become History Detectives! They have loved learning about the past and comparing it to the present. This week in the playroom the children have loved being in our very own ‘History Museum’. They have taken on new roles to experience working in a museum, re-creating music videos from the past, matching old pictures of their teachers to now, and drawing old computer game characters.

On Tuesday we finished our target of term 4 sheet then we did reading tasks. After lunch we had Miss Kelly for P.E and we practiced our throwing, hitting and catching so we could be better at rounders. Next we got paper and wrote red , blue , yellow, white and yellow and we had to find things in the playground that was that colour.

On Wednesday a deer got in our playground so we had to go in the lunch hall. We started with the 4x table so we had it ready for division. After we did maths and that’s why we needed the 4x table next to us and 20x . We started our plan for sustainability for schools. Then we had P.E and we did a lot of running games.

On Thursday we started off with spelling for our spelling test on Friday. After we did maths about division again. Then we started our sustainability writing about and it felt like it took forever. We did have stem and there was Lego, stories and making your own garden and it was very fun.

On Friday we practiced our spelling  strategy which was say write check it rub it . Then we did our actual spelling test. Then we wrote a Scottish poem and it was really funny. At lunch we actually had ice cream. There was music out side when it was lunchtime. Now we are making a picture to show important things about Glasgow. Later we are going to make jelly sandwiches !
