P2a had a very successful and busy week.

The class completed our primary 2 spelling sounds with the very difficult mb. They really focused and showed they’d practiced really hard with their excellent results on their last P2 spelling test.

They also done very well with symmetry. The class were able to identify symmetrical and non-symmetrical shapes and they made very good attempts to draw their own symmetrical shapes.

The class were excited all week for the summer disco. The disco was lots of fun and some of the class won prizes for their brilliant dancing.

P2a

This week in P2a we have been looking at the world of work.

In class we watched some videos on jobs and learned about a lot of jobs we didn’t know about. We had some good discussions about what we’d like to be when we’re older then we done some writing on it.

In the playroom we had lots of stations with different jobs, the class showed they would be amazing construction workers, author/illustrators, florists, teachers and cafe workers.

P2a Silent Movie

Primary 2a have been learning about things in the past and this week we focussed on silent movies.

The class loved watching old movies and learned some important skills to transfer into their own movie.

The class then made their own pigs and wolves to use in a silent movie about The Three Little Pigs story. They then split into groups and assigned roles then rehearsed their routine before acting in front of the class.

The kids had a lot of fun and showed amazing enthusiasm for every part of the tasks.

P2a Outdoor Time

P2a Glasgow Day

This week primary 2a continued learning about the past. In the playroom the class were drawing video game characters, watching old cartoons, exploring the museum and watching old music videos then creating their own dances.

In maths they were learning about sequences, they completed and created their own creative sequences.

We celebrated Glasgow day by first creating excellent instructions on how to make a jeely piece. The children later got to make their own to enjoy. The class also looked at famous Glasgow landmarks and drew their own.

P2a

This week P2a were learning about fractions, the class had a lot of fun using the cubes to figure out half’s and quarters and even challenged themselves further with 3 quarters and thirds.

We began learning about procedural writing by practising sequencing a set of instructions, highlighting why it’s important instructions are clear and in the correct order.

The class also had a fun with their P6 paired reading buddies as we took it outside this week, thanks to their amazing reading the two classes got a chance to have a play together.

In the playroom we are being history detectives learning about people, things and life in the past. So far we have learned about Victorian schools and the history of the telephone. Some of the class were building their own Victorian schools and tables and chairs.

P2a Welcome Back

First week back after the Easter break and it was a busy one for P2a.

The class continued working through their spelling programme learning the ‘ss’ sound, they were excellent when using the alphabet boards making and breaking words.

There was lots of teamwork and creativity on show in the playroom this week.

We also went outside for some outdoor learning to complete science experiments. The class had to look around the playground for items they thought would sink or float and test it in buckets of water. They had lots of fun, engaged amazingly and made some brilliant predictions.
