JRSO

The Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) programme in Glasgow City Council puts children in control of highlighting road safety issues within their own school.

A particularly empowering programme, it gives senior pupils the opportunity to become JRSO’s for either a one or two year period.

Their main tasks are to organise a road safety notice board, deliver road safety presentations to classes or assemblies and run competitions.

Prospective candidates, P6 or P7 pupils have the opportunity to apply for the position of JRSO and may go through formal interviews with their teacher. They will often be invited to attend an induction day where they are issued with their pack containing a badge, pen and activity book as well as being equipped to be a JRSO.
