We have moved onto a new area of maths in our lessons. It’s called probability. We talked about words we use to describe how likely events are to happen. Things like:
- impossible – e.g. It’s impossible for Zainab to drive her dad’s car this afternoon!
- unlikely – e.g. Mrs Harker is unlikely to close the school tomorrow and give us all another week’s holiday
- 50-50 – e.g. Mrs Brightman’s baby had an equal chance of being a boy or a girl (although we now know it’s a girl!)
- likely – e.g. Mrs Brightman is likely to make us work hard today!
- definite – e.g. Today is Monday so tomorrow will definitely be Tuesday.
