A Short and Snowy Week

Hello everyone!

What a week! We had a very busy 2 days and then the snow came falling! The Beast From The East meant that we all had 3 days stuck at home.  Thankfully we were set lots of challenges on Twitter to keep us busy and we all had fun building snowmen, sledging, having snowball fights and keeping cosy!

Last Monday, when it was bright and sunny, our class finished our Athletics programme in P.E with the students from Glasgow Clyde College.

We played our favourite athletic games against each other using all kinds of sports equipment.

We were awarded with a certificate at the end!

In Maths we are continuing to learn about Time.

Miss Webster challenged us to make a weekly timetable to represent our school day.

Some of us think that school should end at Lunchtime and others think that we should have art and extra playtimes every day!

We are going to continue our study of Anthony Browne books for World Book Day this week so look out for a post on that coming soon!

Don’t forget to leave a comment!

P4/5 Assembly- Women who Changed the World

Hello everyone!

We have had a very busy week in Primary 4/5!

In Maths we have been learning how to tell time. We can now identify time on both a digital and face clock. We are currently trying to perfect our 24 hour time.

During maths we decided to go outside. We split into teams and designed a representation of time of our choice using objects found in the playground.

Some of us made clocks while others made timetables. Have a look:

Sorrelle’s team even made their clock numbers out of sticks!

We have been practising hard for our class assembly which took place on Thursday. It was all about different women in history who we have been inspired by.

It was amazing!! We all learned our lines and performed our sketches to the school. Everyone loved it!

Rosemary: “It was awesome!”

Zayd: “We all enjoyed performing”

Zahra: “it was cool to play a scientist!”

Hamza: “I liked being a narrator and telling everyone about Mary Anning’s fossils”

Amaya: “I loved using the microphones”

We hope you managed to come and see our assembly and that you enjoyed it.

See you next Friday 🙂

2018 Update

Hi Everyone!

Can’t believe it’s been so long since our last blog, we have so much to update you on!

Firstly, we have a new teacher! Miss Webster joined the class at Christmas time and we have loved getting to know each other!

At the very end of last term we won the Turner Prize project. Here is our modern art piece:

We created a whale using recycled plastic

We then wrote poetry based on different emotions we though sea creatures would be feeling as a result of pollution.

We worked extremely hard and are very proud of our teamwork. We look forward to celebrating our victory with a class trip soon.

Now onto this term!

We have become St Albert’s play champs through our work on Friday mornings with the Jeely Piece Club. They taught us lots of fun games that we can teach the other pupils in the playground.

We even taught Miss Webster how to skip!

We celebrated Burn’s day at the end of January with shortbread and designing stained glass windows based on the work by Glaswegian born artist Charles Rennie MackIntosh

We worked very closely with the Tramway this term to help to create pieces for the St Albert’s Art Exhibition.

We made clay models of items that different people who work in an art gallery would use such as a tape measure to represent a technician or a paintbrush to represent an artist.

We are currently working towards our class assembly on “Women who Changed the World” which will take place thus Thursday 22nd February.

We look forward to updating you at the end of the week!

Miss Brooks’ birthday week!!!

In Science this week,  we gathered information from our quadrat experiment to record the types of plants that we have in certain areas of our playground.

We were learning how to use appropriate grammar in our sentences, and the importance of tenses.

In Maths, we have been continuing to learn about money. We have been using the tills and coins to help us with our counting.

In language, we wrote a Birthday card to Miss Brooks, and a Thank You card to Aliyan’s Mum for bringing in the delicious cake and sweets for the class. We had a wonderful time celebrating Aliyan’s Birthday.

It’s Friday!!!
