The Curriculum for Excellence is not only about what children are learning, it is about new ways of teaching and learning, with more emphasis on skills for learning, work and life.
In Shawlands Primary we have spent considerable time looking at our teaching methodoogies and strategies. Our approaches to Learning and Teaching are now:
- active
- collaborative
- encourage children to explain their thinking
- help children make connections
- give children ownership
- encourage independence and responsibility
