Parent Council

The Parent Council exists to represent the views of parents and carers and to help create a positive and inclusive school environment. Encouraging the involvement of parents and carers in the education of their children is one of the main aims of the Act which created Parent Councils.  We would welcome suggestions in relation to issues which you believe ought to be addressed, or ideas for fundraising, spending or community building initiatives.

The council includes up to 14 parents plus a number of co-opted staff members. Ideally we aim to have at least one parent representative for each year group as well as a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

Parent Council meetings are open to all members of the Parent Forum (parents and carers). Information, including minutes of meetings can be found below. We meet six times a year, usually on a Monday evening, plus an AGM in September.  Most meetings take place via Zoom.

You can email the Parent council at: Shawlandsprimarypc@live.co.uk and can also engage with the Parent Council via our Facebook page
