At Shawlands Primary we operate a House System where children along with their siblings are placed into a House for the duration of their time at Shawlands Primary School.
Children are given ‘House Points’ from all members of teaching, support and admin staff for demonstrating our school values of Resilience, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Teamwork and Honesty within the school.
These ‘House Points’ accumulate over the course of a week and comfy cushions are provided for the winning House. At the end of each term the points are added up and the winning House is awarded an afternoon treat. In addition to this children receive ‘House Points’ during sports day and these are then added to the scores throughout the year culminating in the ‘House of the Year’ award.
Every term there are House Meetings where children and staff from the same houses come together to carry out a task or discuss school issues.
The Houses, named after Scottish Islands are as follows:
Arran
Barra
Islay
Lewis
Mull
Orkney
Shetland
Skye
