As part of our Digital Learning programme at Shawlands Primary School we are empowering our children to become digital leaders in their own right.
Through the Shawlands Digital Strategy we have created a Digital Ambassadors group. This group of 9 children from Primary 6 and 7 had to progress through a tough application process with over 70 applicants across primaries 6 and 7. The process included completing an application form and attending a formal 20 minute interview with our Digital Leader of Learning.
Our Digital Ambassadors were selected on the basis of their ability to communicate, demonstrate confidence in presenting and their technical knowledge of using applications.
The role of a Digital Ambassador is to work closely with our Digital Leader of Learning to assist with the rollout of iPads and applications across the school, deliver digital learning programmes and provide support to staff and pupils. Their duties include but are not limited to:
- testing applications
- demonstrating applications in learning environments
- educating their peers on acceptable and appropriate use of applications and devices
- educating their peers on cybersecurity and online safety
- delivering digital learning programmes
- creating and delivering digital content
- providing technical support to both staff and pupils
- organising and delivering a lunch time Coding Club
