Primary 6b Wallacewell Primary

Short and busy week for P6B

Our reading skills were a big focus this week as we returned to creating reading journals on the iPads using Keynote and Book Creator. We worked hard to present our ideas clearly and creatively while developing our understanding of the texts we were reading. We also completed reading assessments and practised comprehension questions to strengthen our understanding and reading strategies.

In maths, we began exploring different aspects of measure, focusing on kilometres. We estimated distances to places in our local area and beyond by using maps on the iPads, helping us connect maths to real-life situations. Later in the week, we learned how to convert kilometres to metres and metres to kilometres, improving our confidence with measurement and conversions.

We continued developing our persuasive writing skills by writing a letter to Miss Davidson to persuade her to move us into the bigger classrooms. We focused on using strong arguments, persuasive language, and clear explanations to support our opinions.

As part of our Commonwealth Games learning, we designed and created our own Commonwealth medals. We carefully cut shapes from cardboard, painted them the correct colours, designed the details, and attached ribbons. This activity helped us develop creativity, problem-solving, and practical design skills.

We also enjoyed spending some of our class money on rewards, recognising the hard work, positive behaviour, and teamwork shown throughout the week.
