This week in literacy, we focused on developing our listening and talking skills by practising how to follow instructions carefully. We completed comprehension work based on the story of Sebastian Saye, the fastest marathon runner in the world, and used our understanding to answer questions about the text. We also got new reading books and wrote thoughtful book reviews, sharing our opinions and recommendations. In writing, we explored explanation texts and created our own pieces explaining how a plant grows, using clear sequencing and scientific vocabulary.
In numeracy this week, we focused on reading and understanding digital time, practising how to recognise and record times accurately. We also completed our Maths Assessments (MALTs), giving us the opportunity to showcase all the learning and progress we have made across different areas of maths.
In our wider learning, we followed step-by-step instructions to create our own funky line art drawings, experimenting with different patterns and designs. We also completed detailed observational line drawings of our own shoes, carefully focusing on shape, detail, and line techniques to create unique pieces of artwork. We also looked and created our own posters on our Word Aware for the IDL ‘World of Sports!’
