Hello everyone,
I hope everyone had a lovely September weekend! Despite being a 4 day week, we have been very busy in P3b.
In Literacy, we learnt our sounds of tch and ow (as in snow). We also revised our knowledge of vowels, capital letters and full stops. The children are all working really hard to remember to always use these in their work. In writing, we began to create comic book characters to make our own comic strip in the coming weeks.
In Numeracy/Maths, we consolidated our partitioning of numbers by place value. We love doing this as a class game using the whiteboard! We loved learning about money this week, by playing with toy coins and notes – some of the children became very rich! Today we put that knowledge to use by working out the cost of items in a cafe and how much change we would have left.
We also had the opportunity to have a dance teacher for PE this week which the children all really enjoyed! In RME, we continued our learning about Hinduism by learning about the key beliefs and values of Hindus. The class all worked well collaboratively to make mind maps and discuss their prior knowledge of some of these terms.
Next week is another 4 day week, so just a note to say that reading books will remain unchanged so that the children have lots of time to read them at school and at home.
Have a restful weekend,
Miss Thomson
