Primary 3a Wallacewell Primary

A short week in P3a

This week may have been a short one, but it was certainly full of fun and learning!

In Literacy, we learned our new spelling sound, “gn”, which we will continue exploring next week. We also worked on understanding past and present tense, practising how to change verbs between the two.

We used our creative skills to produce some wonderful artwork inspired by the French artist Henri Matisse and learned a little about his life and work. In Health and Wellbeing, we explored the basic needs humans require to live healthy lives.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed our fantastic Wallacewell Sports Day — and even better, the sun was shining for us this year! It was lovely to see the children having fun, as well as helping and encouraging one another as they moved around the stations. It was also wonderful to see so many family members and friends coming along to cheer on the teams. This year’s winning team was Ben Chonzie, but a huge well done to everyone who took part.

As part of our Eco Action Plan, we have been focusing on biodiversity and the importance of plants for insects and our environment. We learned about the life cycle of a sunflower before doing some planting of our own to take home. Next week, we will also plant some seeds for the school grounds, which we hope will continue to grow and brighten our outdoor spaces.
