A Wonderful Week of Learning

We have had a busy and exciting week in class!

In writing, we created persuasive pieces to convince our teacher to take us to the zoo. This linked to our IDL theme, The Natural World, where we have been learning about different habitats and how animals survive in them.

In maths, we have continued measuring length and height and have been revisiting multiplication to build our confidence with times tables and problem solving.

In PE, we played ball games, focusing on teamwork, coordination and control.

We also learned about Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, exploring different traditions and thinking about the importance of kindness and friendship.

A Fun Filled Week!

This week, we were very excited to welcome a zoo lab into school for a special visit. The children had the chance to see some fascinating animals up close, including a giant African snail, a snake, a desert mouse, and a tree frog.

We learned lots of interesting animal facts. The children discovered that tree frogs have special feet that help them climb, and that a frog’s eyes help it eat by guiding food into its mouth. Everyone listened carefully and asked some brilliant questions!

In the playroom, our learning took us back in time as we explored prehistoric animals. The children enjoyed digging for dinosaurs, carefully searching like real palaeontologists. They also used their creativity and teamwork skills to build towers, experimenting with balance and height.

In maths, we have been focusing on measuring length. The children explored comparing and measuring objects, using mathematical language such as longer, shorter, and taller during their activities

This Week in Learning!

This week, we learned about Scotland, exploring the thistle, traditional food, and how tartan is woven.

In phonics, we focused on the “y” sound, and the children proudly shared their learning with parents using magnetic boards.

In maths, we explored halving and quartering. The children used iPads to find halves in the playroom and went outside to draw shapes divided into halves and quarters.

It was a fun and busy week — thank you to all the parents who came in to watch our learning!

Finally, today we enjoyed a delicious ice cream as an End of Term treat!

All of the children in P2b have worked very hard this term and I hope they enjoy their well deserved break!

P2b Learning

This week we’ve enjoyed our new playroom theme: The Jolly Postman. We wrote letters to our friends and delivered them. We discussed what postmen do and why it is an important job.

We also designed stamps and constructed vehicles and post offices to help deliver the ,enters and parcels.

In Numeracy, we have been learning how to multiply and divided by 2, 4, 5 and 10. We have learned strategies such as grouping, sharing and arrays to help solve our calculations.

Weekly Learning Update

This week we have been busy expanding our knowledge of the planets in our solar system, learning about what makes each one unique, and beginning to create our own paper mâché planets to bring our space topic to life.

In writing, we continued to develop our setting descriptions by using adjectives to describe what we see and adding more detail to our sentences.

In phonics, we focussed on the “oi” sound, exploring it in different words and using it in our reading and writing activities.

The children have shown great enthusiasm in all areas of their learning and we are excited to continue our space adventures next week.

A Fun Week!

This week in class has been full of creativity and learning! For Halloween, we made some fantastic skeleton art using straws – the children were very imaginative with their designs.

In phonics, we focused on the “ue” sound and practised writing sentences, helping the children apply their learning in context.

In maths, we continued to work on adding and subtracting using tens and ones, building our confidence with numbers. A big thank you to all the parents who came along to our Maths Open Afternoon.

We also had lots of fun at our Halloween disco on Wednesday, enjoying the music, dancing, and festive celebrations together.

What a busy and exciting week!

Beatson Santa Dash 2025 – Help Us Reach Our Target

Two years ago, our school community came together to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Cancer impacts countless lives in different ways, and the Beatson continues to make an incredible difference through its compassionate care and unwavering support.

The Beatson Cancer Charity works alongside the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre – one of the leading cancer care facilities in the UK – providing vital funding for specialist staff, innovative research, and improved patient wellbeing. From emotional support and complementary therapies to cutting-edge treatments and clinical excellence, the charity ensures that patients and their families receive the best possible care at every stage of their journey.

We are proud to continue supporting the Beatson and the life-changing work they do for so many across Scotland.

This year, some of our amazing staff will be taking part in the Glasgow Santa Dash 2025 with Beatson Cancer Charity on Sunday the 7th December at Glasgow Green. Please help us to raise our fundraising target by donating to our Just Giving fundraising page. Click on the link below to access –

A Great Week!

This week in our class, we have been very busy and creative!

In writing, we wrote about the story of The Enormous Turnip. We enjoyed retelling the tale in our own words and describing all the characters who helped to pull out the giant turnip!

In maths, we continued to work on adding using concrete materials. Everyone has been practising really well and showing great understanding when combining numbers together.

We also did amazing at our Harvest Show! We sang, danced, and acted beautifully on stage — well done to everyone for their hard work and confidence.

In technology, we went outside to take photographs and then used them to create beautiful autumn scenes. Our work looks fantastic and really shows the colours of the season.

What a wonderful week of learning and creativity!
