Pupils from S1 – S3 complete a Broad General Education in Music, experiencing personalisation and choice, whilst learning how to build skills across 7 different instruments

In the classroom, pupils can learn to play the keyboard, glockenspiel, guitar, ukulele, drum kit, bass guitar and learn how to sing more effectively. If pupils show particular interest and passion for an instrument, they will be given the chance to trial with one of our instrumental instructors which gives them the opportunity to further increase their skills with an extra 30 minute lesson each week.

As well as increasing skills and confidence across the instruments of their choice, pupils are also guided through musical literacy and understanding, taking them on a journey from the classics to the present day. Where possible, new concepts and music terms are taught through performance, helping pupils to consolidate their learning.

We explore composition, where pupils learn an understanding of how to compose their own music and the techniques they need to be successful.

There are several opportunities for performance throughout the year, with stand out events at the Winter Showcase and End of Year show. Make sure you keep up to date with our twitter and What’s On pages to find out all the latest about events and performances
