Super 7s is our Indoor Primary Athletics Championships.
Based at the Emirates arena the Super 7s is made up of 7 events in total with the age group being primary 7s.
Unlike many other Athletics events the Super 7s has all pupils taking part in every event.
We have up to 24 Schools taking part in each of the Super 7s events.
Each School brings along a team of 6 girls and 6 boys so we would have a maximum of 288 pupils.
This year we had 4 Super 7s events.
It is made up of 6 events in the morning: 400m; 60m; 60m hurdles; Shot Put; Standing Long Jump; and Javelin.
In the afternoon all pupils take part in separate girls and boys 6x100m relay races.
Every time, throw and jump is recorded and entered into our databases so we have overall boys and girls top 3 for each event as well as overall individual top 3 boys and girls and overall scores for each School.
This allows every pupil to compete against each other across all the events.
The event requires a lot of planning and staffing on the day but it’s worth it as the feedback from staff and pupils is great.
This event is a great way for pupils to have a positive introduction to Athletics and try lots of different events.
