Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

A new kind of Games. Rooted in Glasgow. Built for the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Games return to Glasgow in 2026, from July 23rd until August 2nd, and it’s brilliant to be back!

As only the third city in history to host the Games twice, Glasgow brings deep experience and unmistakable character to this global moment. From world-class sport to street-level celebrations, Glasgow 2026 will be an 11-day festival of energy, community and ambition — all set within an eight-mile corridor that puts fans, athletes and the city side by side.

This is a Games powered by people, delivered by Glasgow 2026 Limited, the Organising Company established to stage the event in partnership with the Commonwealth Sport and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). The company is led by a specialist team with major event experience, and a sharp focus on legacy, access and innovation.

We’re proud to be pioneering a leaner, more sustainable model for major events — making the most of Glasgow’s world-class venues, infrastructure and know-how from 2014. This edition of the Games will be delivered with no public funding from the Scottish or UK Governments, and is being backed by the Commonwealth Games Federation with support from Commonwealth Games Australia.

With fewer barriers to hosting and a smarter, city-centred approach, Glasgow 2026 sets a bold new standard, designed to inspire future hosts across the Commonwealth.

Even with the new model, at its heart, it’s still the same story:
3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories.
10 sports. Four iconic venues. One unforgettable host city.
All coming together to deliver the most inclusive, community-driven and connected Games yet.

This is your invitation to be part of something altogether brilliant.

Meet Finnie!

Finnie is the official mascot for the Glasgow 2026, Commonwealth Games. Let’s hear a little bit about her,

I’m a unicorn (Scotland’s national animal – just saying). Sport’s my absolute favourite thing. I’m here to cheer on every athlete, bring the buzz and maybe add a little magic to The Games while I’m at it.

After I was imagined by the young people of Glasgow, something amazing happened, they wrote my story. From where I grew up, to how I got my horn, my stars and everything that makes me, me. It’s full of magic, sport and loads of heart.

Finnie will be making her way around Glasgow to visit schools and events. Here is what to expect when Finnie visits both your primary and secondary school:

The Baton Launch.

The Glasgow Schools Baton Launch is now complete:

Commonwealth Games 2026 Glasgow have produced a resource for when the baton comes to your establishment. The baton is now a Learning Community Baton and will hopefully be in all schools, being part of events and used to celebrate the games coming to our city.

There is an assembly presentation and the challenge to design/decorate the baton.

Our Glasgow Schools Baton relay is a brilliant way to engage all our young people with the Commonwealth Games, foster community, encourage physical activity and build awareness around sustainability.

The Glasgow Schools Baton Relay comprises three different elements:

1. Baton design (Create)

2. Physical activity and journey (Move)

3. Sustainability project (Sustain)

All resources will be stored on Go Glasgow. You can access them on this link
