This is a reminder to encourage any interested young people to apply by 5pm on Tuesday 31st March for a new work experience opportunity that we’re offering to S5/6 pupils in Glasgow (all the information is in the attached document if that’s easier for spreading the word). This is aimed at pupils from the Glasgow area who may be interested in a career in engineering, infrastructure or the built environment.

This is an ideal opportunity for any young person considering a UCAS application in a related discipline, supporting their responses to why they want to study their chosen course and what experiences they have outside of education. They will have the chance to work on a variety of engineering and infrastructure tasks, guided by our Early Careers Professionals and STEM Ambassadors. The pupils will be expected to work in groups with those from other schools, developing their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. They will work on a project-based task, engaging in discussion, research and designing solutions and will present to a panel of senior staff at the end of the week.

We are offering 10 places on our work experience week which will run from Monday 8th June to Friday 12th June, from 10am to 4pm each day at our Glasgow office, 110 Queen Street, G1 3BX. Please share this opportunity as widely as possible.

  • Teacher contact name and email address

  • Short paragraph from the pupil explaining their interest in the placement (100 words maximum)

Paid Summer Finance/accountancy programme with EY -S5/6

This programme is for young people interested in a career at EY in business/accountancy/finance etc. The programme will help young people take their first steps into a career in accounting, consulting, or other professional services and is appropriate for those who wish to apply for a high level / degree apprenticeship at the end of school or college. The 8 day programme will run from Monday 8th June 2026 – Wednesday 17thJune 2026. There are up to 30 places available on this programme and applications are open now.

The programme provides:

  • 5 days employability skills training and insights into the sector from those who work in it and who have come into the sector via different pathways (including the apprenticeship scheme) – 8-12 June 2026
  • 3 days work experience/business academy event at EY working directly with the teams across the various service lines at EY –  15-17 June 2026
  • Paid for all 8 days – total of £384 (approx.)
  • Additional £80 bursary to cover the cost of lunches and any travel over and above that covered by their young Scot card (if travel costs are higher than amount provided minus lunch costs then young person can apply for enhanced bursary to cover additional travel costs)
  • 6 months of group mentoring after the programme ends

Who can take part?

  • Applicants must be in S5/S6 aged 16-17 years old
  • Must be interested in the business/finance/accountancy sectors and be sitting a combination of 5 Highers that includes Maths and English
  • Must eligible for free school meals or education maintenance allowance in recent years

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Food & Drink Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship

Start date: September 2026.

Application criteria:

  • National 5 qualifications at grade C or above (Scotland) in English and Maths.
  • Right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for three years.
  • An interest in manufacturing and a desire to become an accomplished engineer

Application deadline: 28 November 2025.

About the Food & Drink Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship: 

This is a 4-year apprenticeship with a starting salary of £26,425.

In this programme studenst will be immersed in engineering operations, working closely with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners’ site teams whilst studying. No previous technical experience is necessary.

They will:

  • Spend the first five months on a full-time residential experience with other engineering apprentices at the Northwest Training Council in Liverpool, with accommodation fully funded by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. After this residential phase, they will return to the manufacturing site to continue the on-the-job learning.
  • Achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Food & Drink Maintenance Engineering.
  • Receive on-the-job coaching and learning opportunities, all while earning an academic qualification.

Visit to AC Whyte | Construction Aware

As part of the Construction Aware Programme, we recently visited AC Whyte & Co Ltd to learn about CAD design, energy efficiency, and sustainability in construction.

Pupils took part in Health and Safety training and practical plastering activities, gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight into real industry skills.
