Meet the Teacher- Wednesday 14th September

As shared in our August Newsletter, Meet the Teacher is back.

Classrooms will be open from 3:15-4:45pm for our families to come in and see where their child is learning and meet the teacher. This is not a progress reporting night, these are scheduled for November, but a general information session about the routines in the class your child is in. Children are welcome to come along to give you a tour of their classroom, please ensure your child remains with you at all times.

Miss Finlayson and Mrs Chalmers will be in the hall between 3:30 and 4:45pm to discuss any issues and share information about the school improvement plan and the session ahead, with a handout to take away.

A bell will ring at 4:45pm to leave the building as we are aware there is a game on at Ibrox.

After School Sports Clubs

Children were consulted on Sports Clubs

The children were consulted on clubs they would like this session. We met with James from Active Schools and will have the clubs above running across the year.

Next week we have the following clubs starting-

Monday- Dance P2 and P3

Tuesday- Football P4 and P5

Thursday- Football P6 and P7

Clubs will run for 5 weeks and all children had the chance to bring a letter home yesterday. Please ensure children are collected promptly at 4pm as school staff have often left meetings to dismiss the club. If the industrial action goes ahead next week an extra date will be added on at the end of the block for the football clubs. Your child will be allocated a slip if they have been given a place in the club, our numbers are capped at 25 per session

Leaving School

As restrictions have eased we no longer need to be prescriptive about which gates children use to enter and exit school. Families with siblings have welcomed this as children can leave together rather than from potentially 3 separate gates. We understand there was some congestion at the top gate yesterday. Can we ask that parents parking in this area DO NOT park up on the kerb as this makes the pavements unsafe for our children and families. Please can parents collecting from any gate stand along the fence to ensure children can safely see the adult who is collecting them and minimise congestion at the gate.

Moving forward our children working on the ground and first floor will use the main gate located on Hinshelwood. This is P1, P2/1, P2 and P3. Children from P4-P7 can use the double or top gate. Families with siblings can use whatever gate suits. Please ensure you have discussed with your children which gate you will be collecting them from. P1 children are back to a soft start and finish so the gate on Hinshelwood will be quieter than in previous years as parents are coming into the classroom to collect.

Teaching staff and SLT are always in the playground at 3pm to support children in leaving school safely.

Welcome back!

We look forward to welcoming all of our children back to school on Wednesday the 17th August. We hope that all our families have had a lovely relaxing summer. Staff will be back in school on Monday 15th August, if you have any questions or queries please call the school office or email headteacher@ibrox-pri.glasgow.sch.uk and we will get back to you.

Please see below for a reminder of arrangements for our new Primary 1 pupils. We can’t wait to welcome the newest members of Team Ibrox!

FIRST DAY- Wed 17th August

On the first day you should arrive at school and make your way to the class between 9:20 and 9:30am. This will allow for the older children to make their way to their classes before our newest children arrive, give you the opportunity to see the classroom and take any photos you wish for their first day.

Primary 1 children are entitled to a free school lunch or can bring their own packed lunch. Class teachers and additional staff will be in the Dinner Hall to support children in having their lunch.

We would then like to invite you to come back to the school at 2:30pm and collect your child from their class. Children should be collected from their classrooms.

NORMAL ROUTINE

On Thursday and Friday, the doors will be open from 8:50am for you to take your child up to class ready for the 9am start. At the end of the day the doors will be open from 2:50pm for you to collect your child from their class. This will then hopefully continue for the rest of the year.
