Looking After Our Teeth In P3a

This term in Primary 3a we have been learning about looking after our teeth. We started by reading Give Us a Smile Cinderella. The evil step sisters eat too much chocolate and never brush their teeth so their teeth start to rot and fall out but luckily Cinderella remembers to brush her teeth twice a day!

To see what happens to the outside of our teeth if we drink or eat too much sugar we did some science! We put three white eggs in cups of water, milk and Coca-Cola and we left them all day. While we were waiting we made some predictions about what might happen.

At the end of the day we took the eggs out of the cups and were shocked to see the colour of the egg that had been in the fizzy juice.

After this we wrote up what had happened in our experiment.

Santa’s Sleigh

P7a and P7b went on a trip to the science centre. After discussing friction, gravity and a little bit of aerodynamics they created their own santa sleighs. Their task was to fly at least a metre. P7b had the winners, with Abbey and Laurajane’s coming in at a whopping 1m30cm.

Stick Man in P2a

In Primary 2a we have been enjoying reading the story ‘Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson. On Monday we wrote a recount of all the different places that Stick Man went to on his journey to find the family tree. On Thursday we created still images of different scenes from Stick Man.

First Stick Man was chased by a dog.

Then a girl threw Stick Man into the water.

Next Stick Man was used as an arm for a snowman.

After that Stick Man helped Santa who was stuck coming down the chimney.

Finally Stick Man helped Santa deliver the toys to all the girls and boys and returned home to the family tree.

P3 Read, Write, Count Bags

Today we enjoyed looking through our Primary 3 Read, Write, Count bags. First we listened to the book ‘There is no dragon in this story’ and discussed why we liked or disliked it. Then we worked with a partner to try out the dice game for creating stories. We came up with some very funny stories together!
