P7b managed to grow the poor Grinch’s heart during their science slot. By using their knowledge of chemical reactions they created a happy ending for the previously miserable Grinch. Check out our big hearts.

P7a learned how to grow the Grinch’s heart, three times it’s size, by creating the gas carbon dioxide that filled their balloons.

Comments Off on Families Connect – Primary 2 Parents
In January, we will be launching a Family Learning programme for Primary 2 parents and children called Families Connect. Families Connect focuses on supporting parents and children to learn together. It helps parents to support their children’s learning in three key areas: Literacy, Numeracy and Emotional Development. The eight-week programme provides a series of activities, techniques and games that parents /carers can do with their children at home.
We are hosting a Families Connect coffee morning at our first Community Café on Friday 11th January 2019 from 10.45 – 12.00. All Primary 2 parents are invited to find out more about the programme and sign up. At the coffee morning we will discuss how the programme works and the impact we expect it to have.
If successful in gaining a place on the Families Connect Programme parents/carers will be required to attend all 8 sessions with their child. We have detailed below these dates. During the sessions parents/carers will work with the other parents/carers and their own child. Food and refreshments for all adults and children is provided at each session.
We very much look forward to seeing you all at our Families Connect coffee morning and working with you at Families Connect. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.
A letter with all of the above information has been sent out to Primary 2 parents/carers today. Please read and complete the tear off slip and return to the school by Thursday the 27th of December 2018.
Thank you for your continued support.

The Deputy First Minister’s Christmas Holiday Maths Challenge has been issued to all of Primary 6a. The Christmas Holiday Maths Challenge was developed for primary 6 pupils and their families. It is in partnership with the Scottish Government and the Scottish Mathematical Council. The intention is that pupils will take this home for the holidays to explore maths in a fun way outwith the classroom with their family members. We hope that you will take part.
Solutions and workings will be published at blogs.gov.scot/making-maths-count on 4 January 2019.
Enjoy the festive break!

Comments Off on The Heart

P5a has been learning about the heart and its function within the body. They labelled the parts of the heart and did a simple experiment with Miss Colville , showing how the valves in a heart work. They found it interesting and informative.

Comments Off on Parables

P5a have been learning about parables in RME. They made story boards and a puppet theatre to tell the stories in their own words. They had great fun, especially making the puppet show.
