P7b Civil Engineers

P7b were excited to see something very familiar today at the World of Work event this afternoon.

Two weeks ago, P7b created domes and spheres in a STEM activity and today some civil engineers came in with the same dome we created!

P7b got to find out how the civil engineers planned, designed and built things including the models that we built last week! A fantastic link to learning!

P7b STEM: measurement versus perception

P7b were learning the difference between measurement and perception of measurement. Through a carousel of activities they got to test how accurate perception was when it came to measurement and found out just how important accuracy of measurement was.

Thanks to Jennifer Hughes from NFL who came in to carry out these activities and then stayed for the WoW event in the afternoon.

Google maps in 3b

This week we have been learning about our local community and have been studying the history of Crookston Castle. P3b explored the best route to get there from school and their own homes using @googlemaps.

Help ma’ Boab!

Jings, crivens! Oor Wullie is desperate to meet his friends to get up to some mischief. Unfortunately, they are at the other side of the river and there is no bridge!

P2b were challenged to work with a partner to create a crossing for Oor Wullie. As you can see the finished results are affy braw.

STEM in P2b

As part of our STEM fortnight, P2b created their own game. They used paper plates, art straws and paper to construct a game that could be used with a marble. They tested out their ideas and then modified them to improve their game. A fun filled afternoon with lots of creative thinking.
