P6a

P6a put Science to the test this week. We looked at what the structure of a building needed to withstand an earthquake. The class were then tasked with building a structure that was no less than 10cm high and strong enough to withstand 30 seconds of shaking. Although only one group managed to build an earthquake proof building, we all had fun trying. Well done P6a!

Tea with Miss D News!

At Hillington Primary we celebrate the successes of our pupils and whole school community.

We value every child and want to nurture the unique skills and talents of each individual. As such we love to celebrate our pupils’ achievements both inside and outside school in Friday Assemblies, Good Work Assemblies and through our Star of the Week and Hillington Go-Getter Certificates.

For the last year our Depute, Miss Davidson, has been hosting Tea with Miss D for all of our fabulous Stars of the Week from P1-7. From tomorrow this will be changing. Miss Davidson has decided to try something new.

Instead of Tea with Miss D we will be celebrating our Stars of the Week at our weekly Top Table Lunch. Each Friday our Stars of the Week will be invited to the lunch hall first. They will take a seat at our very special top table, in the dining hall, with their pack lunch or school dinner. They will eat lunch at the top table and will  receive some special sweet treats and drinks to celebrate their fantastic achievements and hard work over the last week.

Goodbye Oor Wullie!

P2a and P2b said goodbye to Oor Wullie as he gets ready to take part in the Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail this summer. We do not know where he will be placed but as soon as we know we will let everyone know!
See you soon Wullie (and Jeemy). 🐀

Super Duper Science Fair

P7 did extremely well presenting at the super duper science fair. They did the school and themselves very proud. The P7s gave up all their lunch times this week to get ready for the fair and we all had a super time. Thank you so much to the STEM Glasgow team for putting on a brilliant fair!

P6a

P6a really enjoyed their trip to Cardonald Library.  We were so pleased to see that so many of the children borrowed books either on their own card or on the school card. A reminder will be given to the children nearer the 22nd May to remind them to return their books to Cardonald Library.

A big THANK YOU to all of our parent helpers for their support on this trip.
