by Miss Davidson Comments Off on First Ministers Reading Challenge 2020-21
The First Ministers Reading Challenge is an opportunity for pupils to broaden their reading habits and experience a wide range genres, authors and styles. This year’s challenge involves our whole school. On Monday 2nd of November we will launch our whole school challenge – read as many books as you can. Pupils will be provided with a Reading Passport. Once they have read a book they should log its title and author in their Reading Passport along with their start and finish date. They can then review the book. Please note books recorded in your Passport cannot be class reading books. Reading Passports will be collected in at the beginning of March 2021. Once we have collected in all of the Reading Passports we will calculate the average number of books read by each class and use this information to choose a First Minsters Reading Challenge class winner. Help to promote the First Minsters Reading Challenge at home by encouraging your child to read for enjoyment.

by Miss Davidson Comments Off on Halloween At Hillington 2020
Halloween is coming and we are all very excited. On Friday the 30th of October 2020 pupils can wear a Halloween costume to school if they wish however this is not compulsory. Please remember no scary costumes which may upset younger children. Children may also bring in one small snack and drink for a Halloween class event on the Friday afternoon. Please remember NO NUTS.
We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween in SPOOKTACULAR style this year. And don’t forget to decorate a pumpkin for your window for the local pumpkin Halloween trail.
