Mindfullness – 9am Wednesday 12th January 2021

Wednesday 13th January 2021

Good morning everyone. Happy Wednesday! We are half way there. You and your families at home are doing a fantastic job. We are so impressed with your engagement with home learning so far.

9.00am – Mindfulness

We are going to start out learning off today with some Mindfulness activities. Follow the steps in the activities below. Everyone should now be able to access video links posted on Teams.

Activity 1

PATHS Feelings Check In –In school we do an emotional check in each morning and at other times throughout the day. Using the comfortable and uncomfortable feelings face attachments below think about how you are feeling today. Are you experiencing a comfortable or uncomfortable feeling? Talk someone else in your home about how you are feeling. Ask them how they are feeling. If you have nobody to talk to write about how you a are feeling. It is good to share our feeling and emotions. Not talking about them is not for our health.

Activity 2

Cosmic Yoga – Yoga is a great way to help our body and minds to relax and prepare for the day ahead. Click on the link below to take part in today’s Cosmic Yoga class.

Activity 3

Positive Affirmations – Affirmations are positive statements that help to motivate us and make us happy. Today’s #positiveaffirmation at Hillington Primary is –

‘I am enough. .

We are all different and no matter what you must always remember that you are enough. If someone else doesn’t think so then that is their problem not yours. Never let anyone else make you doubt yourself and your awesomeness!

Can you create your own positive affirmation for the day. If you can, share it with us by asking a grown up to tweet it for you. Remember to @HillingtonPS and #positiveaffirmation

P1a Literacy Task – Tuesday 12th January

Tuesday 12th January 2021
11.10am-12.10pm – Literacy Task

During our Literacy Live lesson you will be read the story ‘‘Mog and Bunny’’. Draw a picture of your favourite part of the story and write a simple sentence about Mog.

Look at the front cover of the book. Before writing your sentences, think about what type of animal Mog is, what colour she is and what size she is and use this to help create a sentence. Start with Look at Mog and then finish the sentence. Remember to begin your sentence with a capital letter and finish with a full stop. You should use finger spaces and your neatest handwriting.

If you missed the story during the live lesson do not worry. You can either watch the link below or you can draw a picture of Mog below. If you would like to listen to the story again, you can visit:

P1a Numeracy Task – Tuesday 12th January

Tuesday 12th January 2021

9.30-10.15am – Numeracy Task

Activity 1:

You will need your number cards 0-10 for this activity. These were given home as homework in the past. Ask an adult to mix up the number cards.

  • Order your numbers from 0-10.
  • Count up and down the number line.
  • Ask an adult to point to a number. Say the number before and the number after.
  • Ask an adult to take one or two numbers away. What numbers are missing?

Activity 2:

Practice writing numbers 0-10 using finger spaces. Write each number six times and take a new line for each. Ask an adult to check the formation of your numbers.

Can you remember the rhyme we learned in class to help you write each number?

P1b Literacy Task – Tuesday 12th January

After listening to the story of ‘Josh and the Woo Woo’ in today’s Live Literacy lesson, choose your favourite part of the story and draw a picture of Josh and one of the things he saw. Underneath, write ‘Josh saw a’ and finish the sentence. You can write more than one sentence about your picture.

I have included a link so that you can listen to the story again and use it to help you draw your picture. Fingers crossed you can access it. 🤞
We can look at your work at the Check in at the end of the day.

P1b Numeracy Task – Tuesday 12th January

For your activity today, you will need the number flash cards sent home previously.

*Get an adult to mix them up so that you can put them in a row, in the correct order, starting with the smallest number. Do this a few times to get faster. Can they time you? What was the quickest time you managed?

*Once they are in the correct order, close your eyes and get an adult to turn one of the numbers over. Open your eyes, which one is missing? Repeat this for different numbers. If you find this too easy, try turning over two, three or four numbers each time.

*Repeat the two steps above but this time put the numbers in decreasing order starting with number 10.

*Treasure Hunt – spread your numbers out. Can you find groups of objects to put beside each number. E.g. 1 – 1 cushion, 2 – 2 spoons, 3 – 3 toy cars

  • In your jotter write a row of each number. A row of 0, a row of 1 etc. Do at least 6 of each number. Make sure you take your time to do the correct formation and make it really neat.
