Literacy Task – 11.10am- 12.10pm

In our Literacy Live lesson, we learned a new sound – z

Practice saying the new sound and doing the action for this sound – Put your arms out at the sides and pretend to be a bee and say ‘zzzzzzz’

Activity 1

Can you use objects around your house to make a giant Z on the floor? You could use shoes, building blocks or pencils. Remember to tidy it away when you are finished. You could take a picture of it to share to our ‘Class Chat’ team.

Activity 2

Ask an adult to draw 4 lines in your jotter. Write 5 ‘Z’ on the top line, 5 ‘z’ on the second line, then repeat for lines 3 and 4. Remember to use finger spaces between each letter. At that bottom of your page, draw 2 or 3 objects beginning with Z. Ask an adult for help to write the name beside each picture.

Numeracy Task – 9.30-10.15am

Activity 1 – Sumdog

This week we are participating in Glasgow’s Sumdog Maths Contest. Please log into sumdog for 15 minutes each day. The skills you will focus on will be skills chosen by sumdog for you to work on. Good luck in the contest!

Activity 2 – Number cards

Today we are learning to find missing numbers in a number sequence. Yesterday, you made number cards from 0-20. Start by ordering these numbers. Then ask an adult to turn over 1 or 2 numbers and then say what numbers are missing.

Copy and complete the number sequences and fill in the missing numbers in your jotter. You can use your number cards or number line to help you.

Activity 3 – Pairs matching game

Make another set of flashcards from numbers 0-10. You will now have 2 sets of cards from 0-10. Place all your cards face down on a table or on the floor. Turn over a card and try to find the matching number. You could play this with a member of your family.

Good Morning Primary 3!

Group 1: This morning for Maths I would like you to take some time to practise your times tables. So far in class we have covered the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables and it is so important that you are practising these every day! I have set you a Sumdog challenge focusing on these tables, you could also ask someone in your house to test you.

Today we are going to have a look at the 3 times table, please start by watching this video building the 3 times table on the counting stick like we do in class when we start to learn a new multiplication table:

After you have watched the video please have a go at textbook TJ1a p109 (TJ1a p109). In the PowerPoint (Multiplication stations 2,3,5,1) you will find a video which goes over the strategies to help you if you need it.

Group 2: Please complete the worksheet OH – Subtraction within 10 . There is a number line (0-20 Number Line – Numicon) attached to this post to help or you can use concrete materials like pasta or LEGO to help you.
