Literacy Task – 11.10am-12.10pm

Read over the story below and have a go at reading as much as you can on your own. When you are reading it is important to do the following:

• Point to the words as you read
• Sound out the words
• Look for any tricky words

Look at the sentences in red. What are the missing words? Can you find them in the story? Ask an adult for help if you need it.

Ask an adult to draw some lines in your jotter. Copy and complete each sentence by filing in the missing words. Remember to start your sentence with a capital letter and finish your sentence with a full stop. Take a new line for each sentence. Underneath your sentences, draw a picture of Meg and Ben hiding in the den.

If you have time, make a den for you and one of your toys to hide in and act out the story!

Numeracy Task – 9.30-10.15am

Activity 1 – Sumdog

This week we are participating in Glasgow’s Sumdog Maths Contest. Please log into sumdog for 15 minutes each day. The skills you will focus on will be skills chosen by sumdog for you to work on. Good luck in the contest!

Activity 2 – Money

We are learning to identify different coins. Have a look around your house to see if you have any 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 or £2 coins. Don’t worry if you don’t have any. Have a look at the coins below. Look at the different shapes, colour and size of the different types of coins.

• Watch the video on ‘oo’ phonemes – its a bit of fun and may help you learn some spellings for Friday’s test. I’ll be testing a different 15 words, from the five ‘oo’ representations.

• Compound words – ask an adult to choose 6 of your best compound words from your list made during yesterday’s lesson, and write a sentence for each.
  -if you missed the lesson, remember a compound word is a longer word made from joining two smaller words, such as playtime, lunchbox, earthquake, rainbow…

• Watch the link to Charlotte’s Web, Chapter 4.

• Pic 1 – Add the correct sentence ending to their beginnings.
  Extension for Apples and Oranges – use the sentence beginnings and write an appropriate, different ending for each that is still true.

Everyone – Watch the You Tube link below. it is quite long but I think the teacher explains Time really well, starting from the very beginning of why we even measure Time at all.
