Today, P4 mummified their own tomato.
They scooped out the insides and dried it off before sanitising and covering it in salt and bicarbonate of soda.
Before we covered it in salt we measured the mass of the tomato and will do this again after 14 days to see what happens to the mass. Some children thought the tomato would be lighter, some thought it would be heavier. A couple thought the mass would remain the same.
Visit this page in 14 days to see if our tomatoes have been preserved or not.

P7/6 debated the M&S versus Aldi row over the caterpillar cake, Cuthbert. They followed the M&S Versus Aldi debate and discussed how social media is influencing the potential outcome of the situation. After writing a persuasive piece and debating it in class, they created a poster to reflect how they felt. Would you free Cuthbert? Or are M&S right in trying to ban the copying caterpillar?

Please find attached information on Southside Housing’s free food and activity programme running in both Cardonald and Pollokshields over the Spring school/nursery holiday period.
The main aim is to provide children with a healthy meal during the school holidays, however in addition they will also be offering a range of activities which will be delivered within the current restrictions, alongside some take away activity packs. The programme is open to all aged 0 – 18, but as much as possible Southside Housing want those most in need to access it.
Can we remind all families again that we are requesting that one adult collects their child/children from school and maintains a 2m social distance from others. Any discussions with staff should be via telephone after school. Thank you to all the families who are already doing this and we appreciate your support in keeping the community safe during Covid lockdown restrictions. Many thanks once again.

by Miss Davidson Comments Off on 2021 Pre-Entrant Induction/Transition Key Dates
We are delighted that you will be joining us at Hillington Primary School in August 2021. Over the next few months there will be a variety of transition key dates and events for families.
All families have now been posted our ‘Family Contact’ information pack. It is important that the ‘Groupcall Contact Sheet’ is returned to us using the pre-paid envelope by Monday the 12th of April 2021. This will allow us to send families transition information via email.
We would like to invite families to take part in our virtual pre-entrant events outlined below –
Welcome to Hillington Primary
To prepare for joining us at Hillington Primary we have made a video of our school for families that can be viewed on our YouTube channel
Induction Day 1 is for parents/carers. We will send out a link via email to our virtual induction which will provide you with all of the information you will need to support your child starting with us in August 2021.
Induction Day 2 – Thursday 27th May 2021
Induction Day 2 is for your child. We will send out a link via email to an interactive activity which children can complete with you at home. We hope this event will be fun, engaging and informative for all children starting with us in August 2021.
School staff will be liaising closely with Nursery staff over the next few months to ensure a positive transition from nursery to primary.
Keeping You Informed
You can keep up to date with things that are happening in school and in your child’s class through our school website.
