Rainbow Fish

P2/1 read Rainbow Fish. P2s have been learning to describe characters using adjectives. The P1s had a go at describing the rainbow fish too. All the children made their own rainbow fish.

Elmer in P2/1

P2/1 learned the word unique when reading Elmer. Elmer is unique because he is a colourful patchwork elephant. The children made their own patchwork elephants and wrote about Elmer.

House Christmas Hampers

Christmas is starting early at Hillington Primary. This term we have set each of our houses a challenge. We would like each house to make a house hamper for our Christmas Raffle which will take place on the Thursday the 1st of December 2022 at our Christmas Fair.

Each house will create a Christmas hamper. It would be appreciated if each child could contribute. Some suggested nonperishable items to donate could include:

Shortbread/Biscuits                                       Mince Pies/Festive Treats

Chocolate/Sweets                                          Crisps/Nibbles/Crackers

Tea/Coffee                                                      Sauce Jars

Canned foods                                                  Pasta/Rice

Toiletries                                                         Tin Foil (for the turkey)

Jams/Condiments

We would appreciate it if you did not send in nut products.

We are also looking for donations for our tombola stall. As such we would be extremely grateful for any donations of wine/alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks and gift items such as toiletries. Please ensure any alcohol or glass bottles are brought to the school office by an adult.

Please return all donations to school by Monday the 14th of November 2022. There will be dedicated collection point for all donations at our school office. Once the hampers are complete, photographs will be added to our Twitter feed and website for you to see what prizes are available.  Raffle tickets will be sold on the night and in advance for those who cannot attend our Christmas Fair– further details to follow.

Thank you as always for your continued support and generosity.

Our Curriculum Rationale

What is a Curriculum Rationale?

When a school has a rationale for its curriculum, it means that everyone involved with the school can answer the questions ‘What is it we want for these children?’ and ‘What are we going to do to achieve it?’

Why is a Curriculum Rationale necessary?

It is important to ensure that everyone within the school is clear about what they are aiming to achieve through the curriculum, which is the totality of a child’s experiences.

Please click on the link below to access our Curriculum Rationale.

Hillington Primary Parent Council

Every parent/guardian becomes a member of the Parent Forum whenever their child starts school, enabling parents to get involved in school life in whatever way they can. This could be helping on trips, at discos, assisting during the school day or as a representative on the Parent Council.

Parent Councils can:

  • provide a voice for parents, in schools and in their local authority, on issues that are important to them and their children
  • help the school to understand how to most effectively involve parents in their children’s learning and in the life of the school
  • support the school and Headteacher in developing strong home/school partnerships
  • support the school in its development and improvement, and in understanding and making links with the wider community
  • capture the unique and varied skills, interests, knowledge and experience that parents can offer.

Please feel free to contact our Parent Council using the email address outlined above. Please also keep a look out for our new Parent Council Twitter page coming soon.
