Yesterday Primary 1 enjoyed a super trip to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum to learn more about expressions. In class we have been following the PATHS programme and learning all about different emotions and how our face changes as we experience these feelings.
The children started by becoming artists and drawing pictures in the air of what they could see from this big window out into the park:
They then enjoyed using their sketch pads to draw the different faces and expressions that they could see on the floating heads installation in the museum:
After this the children spoke about the different colours they thought should match the different feelings and coloured in their drawings:
“My angry face is red.”
“Purple makes me feel tired.”
“My face is green and happy.”
They had lots of fun trying on different masks!
Finally they got to sculpt their own faces out of clay. There were lots of giggles when using the tools to make hair that looked like spaghetti!
We all had lots of fun, the children’s super clay faces will take a few more days to dry and they are looking forward to bringing them home to show you next week!
