Auditions are free and course bursaries of up to 100% are available. Finance should never be a barrier to joining the NYOS community and families are encouraged to apply for a bursary if they are eligible.

2023 will be a year of exploration as NYOS review and respond to the findings from our Soundings consultation. While this process is ongoing, NYOS have announced two changes to the Classical Pathway: in 2023 a NYOS Development Orchestra will replace Juniors and Seniors, and the upper age limit for Symphony Orchestra applications will be 22 years old.

NYOS’s ambition is to ensure that they remain relevant, responsive, accessible and inclusive. NYOS will continue to provide the best orchestral education and performance opportunities for young musicians living and studying in Scotland, as well as those with Scottish connections based further afield. To find out about some of the inspirational music programmed for 2023, go to the programme highlights page of their website.
