SCERTs

“The SCERTS® Model is a research-based educational approach and multidisciplinary framework that directly addresses the core challenges faced by children and persons with ASD and related disabilities, and their families. SCERTS® focuses on building competence in Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support as the highest priorities that must be addressed in any program, and is applicable for individuals with a wide range of abilities and ages across home, school and community settings.”

We use SCERTS (Social Communication Emotional Regulation Transational Support) to help set individual learning targets for all our pupils. These targets will help our pupils regulate their own emotions by learning coping strategies when things go wrong as well as communication skills so they can make their needs known to the adults in the school. We believe that by learning to regulate their emotions our pupils will be in a better place to learn and will ultimately have a much happier and healthy life in the longer term.
