Golfhill Parent Council

Golfhill Primary has a very active Parent Council. One of the main roles of the Parent Council is to support the work of the school.

Our current office bearers are:

Chair
Catherine Willett-Tate

Treasurer
John Bitten-O’Prey

Secretary
Michael Hughes

Another function of the Parent Council is to represent the views of the wider parent forum. If you have anything you would like raised at one of our meetings, let us know.

We are always looking for new members. If you have a child at Golfhill, and are interested in joining the Parent Council, please get in touch or come along to one of our meetings.

Our email address is: golfhillpc@gmail.com

Have you seen the newly refurbished poly tunnel?  A group of parents worked with poly tunnel specialist Brodie Mackay to replace the plastic cover which had deteriorated over time.

We were so grateful to receive a small grant from Reidvale Housing Association to pay Brodie, which meant we only had to fund the actual plastic from school funds.

We can’t wait to see what the children use it for over the coming months.

If you have any gardening items you no longer need that you think the children could use, please hand them in to the school

If you’d like to be involved in other gardening or outdoor projects in the school get in touch with the Parent Council. There are always projects in the pipeline.

Over the last few years, we have:

  • Supported fundraising through various events and activities
  • Contributed funds towards pantomime performances, home learning packs during lockdown, residential trips etc
  • Organised Halloween events: community Pumpkin Trail and disco
  • Facilitated costume swap for Halloween
  • Contributed to Christmas Fair (tea/coffee/hot chocolate, home baking, Christmas jumper swap, No Parents Present Room)
  • Hosted a breakfast for school staff to thank them for their hard work
  • Organised the collection and purchase of games and learning resources for pupils
  • Provided refreshments at Sports Day
  • Supported the school with important COVID messaging
  • Liaised with GCC Road Safety department to ensure safe travel to and from school for our pupils
  • Liaised with Whitehill Secondary Parent Council with regard to the shared campus
