Pupil Leadership Groups
At Cleeves Primary, we believe that every child has a voice and should have meaningful opportunities to help shape our school community. Our Pupil Leadership Groups give children the chance to share their ideas, represent the views of others and take an active role in making positive changes across our school.
Pupil leadership is an important part of our commitment to children’s rights. In particular, it supports Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) – the right for children to have their views heard and taken seriously in matters that affect them.
Through our different leadership groups, children have opportunities to work alongside staff and other pupils to identify areas for improvement, make decisions, plan activities and campaigns, and see their ideas put into action.
What does this mean for our children?
Being part of a Pupil Leadership Group helps children to:

- 💡 Make a difference by helping to develop ideas and improvements within our school.

- 🌍 Become active citizens who understand that they can contribute positively to their school, community and wider world.
Our Pupil Leadership Groups reflect our HARRT values – Honesty, Aspiration, Respect, Resilience and Teamwork – and help children experience these values in action.
Most importantly, pupil leadership at Cleeves is about more than simply having a title or attending meetings. It is about children having genuine opportunities to influence what happens in their school and seeing that their voices can lead to real change.
