Dress Down Day – Friday 25th November 2022

Dear Families,

As you will be aware we will be hosting a dress down day for pupils on Friday the 25th of November 2022. Children are invited to dress as they please on this day. We are hosting this event to raise money for school funds. The suggested donation for this event is £1. Any money raised will be gratefully received and will be used for our class Christmas Parties. Pupils should not wear football strips to school on this day as per Glasgow City Council guidance.

Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Yours

Miss L Davidson

Cinema Trip 10th November

Primary 4 went all the way into the city centre last Thursday to see ‘The Croods 2’ at Cineworld. This trip linked to work we have been doing in class on film literacy. Everyone enjoyed the film, especially Miss Gordon and Mrs Neil who laughed almost the whole way through! We were very lucky to have 2 parent helpers come with us. The boys and girls all followed our code of conduct and were ready, respectful and safe at all times; we even got a compliment from the bus driver on their good behaviour!

Each house will create a Christmas hamper. It would be appreciated if each child could contribute an item. Some suggested nonperishable items to donate could include:

Chocolate/Sweets Crisps/Nibbles/Crackers

Tea/Coffee Sauce Jars

Canned foods Pasta/Rice

We are also looking for donations for our tombola stall. As such we would be extremely grateful for any donations of wine/alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks and gift items such as toiletries. Please ensure any alcohol or glass bottles are brought to the school office by an adult.

Please return all donations to school by Monday the 21st of November 2022. There will be a dedicated collection point for all donations at our school office. Once the hampers are complete, photographs will be added to our Twitter feed and website for you to see what prizes are available.  Raffle tickets will be sold on the day of our Christmas Fair. Further information about our Christmas Fair will follow in due course.

Thank you as always for your continued support and generosity!

Message to Families about the Free Bus Travel for Young People (Aged 5-21)

As you may know, the scheme launched in January this year allowing children and young people aged 5-21 who live in Scotland to travel for free by bus with a valid National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot NEC. We’re already seeing lots of young people benefitting from the scheme, and in September we launched a nationwide marketing campaign to increase awareness and understanding of the scheme and to encourage even more young people to apply.

The website, freebus.scot, has lots of information about free bus travel, how it works, how to apply, the benefits and some tips for travelling safely too.
