World Book Day Competition

On Thursday the 2nd of March we will be celebrating World Book  Day. Pupils are invited to create their own toilet/kitchen roll book character. Families are encouraged not to go to any expense & should instead use materials from home/school to create their masterpiece. We looking forward to seeing creations on World Book Day.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you will know we are working hard at Camstradden to improve our attendance and late coming. Poor attendance is our biggest attainment gap. This means the children who do not attend school are not on track with their learning. If they were in school on time they would be more able to achieve their full potential. Please help us to support your children by ensuring your child attends school every day.

We also have large concerns surrounding the level of  late coming at Camstradden Primary. Every day we have over 30 children who are registered late for school. This number sometimes increases into the 70’s.

Late coming is detrimental to pupils learning and  is disruptive to the learning of others. Large numbers of children coming in late to school through the office also means our one member of clerical staff is unable to answer phones, processes registers, respond to emails or perform any other duties which has a negative impact in a variety of different ways. In order to improve late coming we require the support of all parents and carers to ensure children is in school on time each day. School starts at 9am and famines should ensure that pupils are in the playground and lined up before the bell sounds at 9am.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Yours

Miss Laura Davidson

Road Safety Awareness – Reminder

Please be aware that the ‘School Streets’ scheme is in operation at Camstradden Primary. The scheme closes a series of identified roads, listed below, to moving traffic between the hours of 8.30am and 9.15am and 2.30pm and 3.15pm. This scheme is to ensure the safety of children and families traveling to and from school.

Residents and blue badge holders are exempt, so there may be a small number of vehicles traveling within the zone during restricted times. Prominent signs have been erected in these areas to advise drivers of the restrictions.

Any unauthorised person found driving a vehicle within the temporary pedestrian/cycle zone during restricted hours will be subject to a minimum fine of £50 issued by Police Scotland.

Streets included in the zone at Camstradden Primary are –

Primary 3 – Keeping You Posted Term 3

P3’s Science

Primary 3 had great fun learning about food chains and how animals and plants depend on each other for food. We explored skulls, wings, claws, beaks and teeth to decide what animal/bird it might be from. All creatures are specially  made to get what they need to eat.

Free School Meal/Breakfast Club Grant and Clothing Grants

Dear Families,

As you may be aware some families are entitled to financial support in the form of free School Meal/Breakfast Club and Clothing grants. Free school meal support includes free access to breakfast club which runs in school, each day from 8-8.45am. The School Clothing Grant award of £120 for a Primary aged child or £150 for a Secondary aged child is available on an annual basis to assist with the cost of purchasing essential school clothing for families who are on a qualifying benefit.

We are aware that many of our families who are entitled to this support have not signed up yet. For many families this may be because their child in in Primary 1-5 and free school meals are provided as standard for all pupils at these stages. However, we would like to remind families that applying for the free Meal/Breakfast Club grant will also allow pupils to access Breakfast club free of charge where pupils are provided with a full breakfast and have the opportunity to socialise and play with friends.

We would like to encourage all of our families who believe they may be entitled to the free School Meal/Breakfast Club and Clothing grant to apply. Please click on the link below for further information –
