W’s Art Exhibition
W has been working with his tutor to put together an art portfolio, which he used to create an art exhibition. Pupils from the Acorn room got a special preview! We’re really proud of the effort he’s put in and the work he’s created.

Poetry Focus in Camstradden – January
In January, the focus for writing in Camstradden has been poetry. Pupils have enjoyed exploring a range of poems, including learning and performing some traditional Scots poems.
Primary 5 have also been developing their own poetry-writing skills by experimenting with different types of poems. Haikus proved to be the most successful and popular style, with pupils working hard to follow the structure while expressing their ideas clearly.
The class used a wide range of imaginative imagery in their poems, and some pupils even challenged themselves by including personification. It was wonderful to see such creativity and confidence in their writing.
Well done to Primary 5 for their enthusiasm and excellent effort in poetry this month! ✨📖

Primary 7/6 Make Great Progress in French
Primary 7/6 have been working very hard in French lessons and have made fantastic progress. They have been building up their vocabulary by learning numbers, colours and the names of different body parts.
The children have enjoyed putting their new knowledge into practice through a range of fun and creative activities. These included designing “wanted” posters and creating their own imaginative monsters, all labelled in French.
These tasks helped pupils practise their vocabulary in an engaging way while developing their confidence and creativity. Well done to Primary 7/6 for their excellent effort and enthusiasm in French!

Primary 7 Explore Divided City
Primary 7 have been enjoying a novel study of Divided City by Theresa Breslin. The story is set in Glasgow and explores important themes such as friendship, identity and the challenges people can face when communities are divided.
As part of our learning, we had thoughtful class discussions about the issues raised in the book and how they affect the characters. Pupils shared their opinions, asked great questions and showed real empathy and understanding.
Following these discussions, Primary 7 took on a creative challenge: redesigning the front cover of Divided City. The children worked hard to create designs that reflected the themes, setting and mood of the story. The results were fantastic, with lots of imagination and attention to detail on display.
Well done to Primary 7 for their excellent discussions, creativity and effort throughout this project!
