Events and Sponsorship

Reading Superstar

After raising almost £90 with a friend by selling crafts and pictures from a street stall, Josie (P3a) was excited to try and raise even more money for the playground. As she really loves reading, she decided that a sponsored book read would be the best way she could do this and set herself the challenge of reading as many chapter books as she could in ten days. She initially aimed to complete ten books but after she dedicated herself to reading for every spare moment she could find, she ended up reading a total of twenty-seven books instead! She collected sponsorship from friends and family across the country and has raised a whooping £192! She was really proud to earn her sponsorship money for the school and is really excited to see what the new playground will look like.

Lane Party

Residents of Braemar Street and Carmichel Place opened up their shared lane for a school fundraiser. Ruth Wallace was the inspiration for the events and roped in a few local residents to help organise, including various donations, lane decorations and much more. The party, held on a very warm Saturday afternoon in May, included a bake stall, plant sale, bric-a-barc, tombola, chocolate & fruit fondue, barbeque, drinks and ice lollies. In total £603 was raised for the playground project. Many thanks to Ruth and everyone involved in organising this event. There is talk of lane party 2 next May!

Parent/Carer  – Anonymous Donations

We would like to thank all those parents and carers that have donated anonymously to the playground fund. There has been nearly £2,000 donated to date, which includes those donating monthly as well as one off donations. These donations have not only helped us reach our initial funding goals, but will help us plan for future development works.

Park Life

During this lovely spell of sunny weather, Viola Valente and Jessie Wood came up with the great idea of selling some of their unwanted toys and books in Queens Park. Not only did they make space in their rooms, but they also raised a whooping £169.33 for the playground project. What an amazing example of enterprise, creative thinking and several hours of hard work, hopefully you were rewarded with a nice cold ice cream! Really big thank you to both girls from everyone involved with the Battlefield Playground project.

Lemonade Sale

Jessie (P3b) & Evan (P3b) have been busy selling lemonade to raise money for the school playground project. To help attract customers they made this amazing sign, great effort both of you. Evan also boosted the pot by solving Rubik’s cube puzzles for cash, what an ingenious idea. In total they raised a super £26, well done!
