We have a team of P7 Librarians who are responsible for the organisation of the Library and the book borrowing/return system and the planning and running of events to spread enjoyment of reading throughout the school.
AIMS FOR 2024-25
- To keep the library in good condition for the whole school to enjoy (tidying, organising, suggesting new books/furniture to purchase).
- To promote reading for enjoyment throughout the school through organising whole school events and sharing books/book-related activities.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Introduced 500 new books to the library – including the cataloguing/labelling of the new items (given to the school as part of the Libraries for Primaries funding).
Organising and running whole school events for Book Week Scotland and World Book Day.
Running a World Book Day ‘bookshop’ with Mount Florida Bookshop for World Book Day.
PREVIOUS SUCCESSES
Created book displays for Dyslexia Awareness Week and Black History a month.
Organised a whole host of school-wide activities for Book Week Scotland including, a daily stop-drop-and-read schedule, a book hat design competition (and dance party!), and a hugely successful book swap.
