We liaise with the nurseries  throughout the year to ensure that the transition from nursery to primary school is as smooth as possible for all our learners.  Staff and children visit the school for play visits and paired reading in the last couple of terms of the session.

Class teachers visit pupils in their nurseries in April/May and the children visit the school during the summer term in order to meet their new classmates and become familiar with their classroom.  All Primary One pupils are “buddied” with an older child (Primary 7) who helps in the initial settling into school period.

Many of the children at Battlefield come to us from many different nurseries and we work hard to liaise closely with these nurseries once we know the children joining us in the following session.  A member of staff will visit each of our external nurseries to meet children and staff.
