First Week of Term Two

This week we have had a very busy first week back after enjoying our October week.

We started Coraline which is our new class novel, and wrote a book review on Kensuke’s Kingdom, as well as some new recount writing.

” I think Coraline is  going to be a good book, and be quite scary!” – Calum

During one of our maths lessons we used different resources to practise multiplication and division.

Morgan is using place value counters to help                                  Skye, Aidan, and Ahmed are using beads to help with
with grid multiplication.                                                                        multiplication and division sums.

Alesha and Lewis are  making arrays!

” It was really fun” – Morgan  ” I liked moving round the different tables and trying new things” – Ahmed

On Friday we read Gullrock Bay and practised our ‘during reading’ strategies.

“We know to ask ourselves questions during reading to make us better readers” – Lewis

In pairs we found words we didn’t understand and used different strategies to work out the meaning.
Some strategies are: breaking the word up, reading on and reading back, re-reading the word, and using a dictionary.
