Wednesday – Maths, Science, Modern Studies and PE.

Good morning guys, I hope you’re all feeling well. 😊😊

Thanks to everyone who has sent me work. Β You can send me pictures of what you’ve been up to too. Today I’m going to bake brownies so I will show you some pictures of that later.🍫🍫

Here are some tasks to keep you busy on this dreich day. Can anyone remember what β€˜dreich’ means from our Scots language lessons? ☁️🌧

Maths – have a go at these equivalent fractions activities. Β Remember, to find equivalent fractions, use your times tables knowledge to help you.

Science – go onto the St Albert’s YouTube channel and check out the fun experiments Miss Cohen has been doing. I laughed out loud while I was watching. If you’ve seen Mrs Doubtfire, you will understand.

Leave a comment on this blog and let me know what your favourite experiment was and why it was your favourite. Also, let me know if you tried any of the experiments or if you are planning to carry out any of them at home.

Here’s the link –Β https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBjqn03lZYc-6pCjJPIRqwg/videosΒ

Modern Studies – Our topic this term has a modern studies focus. On the YouTube channel, Miss Cohen has explained what Modern Studies is so follow the same link as I have posted above and go check it out. Β Have a go at your first topic task. Β You can email me and let me know how you got on. Feel free to do some of your own research for this topic before the next lessons, this will help you have a better idea about it.Β

PE – Even though it’s quite dull and rainy today, you should still try and go outside for a while. Fresh air always makes me feel better.
Try this PE in your house or in your garden. Β I’ve chosen an activity I think you’ll enjoy. You get to be a wee bit silly doing it and that’s always fun isn’t it? πŸ€ͺπŸ₯³

After you’ve done this activity and you’re feeling really warm, why not give this a go! I know a lot of you love dancing to TikToks (I do too, sshhhh) so you could do this for the task below. Happy dancing πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ•ΊπŸ½

Remember, you don’t need to do all the tasks. Β You only do what you want to do but try and challenge yourself. Keep your brain and your body active while in lockdown.

I’m looking forward to seeing all your replies and pictures of your tasks.
Stay safe,

Miss McCue xx

Guided Reading – Mental Health

The focus this week is mental health and so this is what our guided reading is about. Β I have recorded myself reading the text and asking the questions if you would prefer to listen to it and do the task this way. To watch this, follow the link for the YouTube video. Β Copy and paste the link onto your safari.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBjqn03lZYc-6pCjJPIRqwg/videosΒ

If you want to do the task by reading the text and the questions, I have posted them here too. Β
Read the text and give the questions a go if you want to. Β You can zoom in on the text and it won’t go blurry so you’ll be able to read it all. You should be able to do this on your own so give it a go independently. You can ask someone in your house for help if you need it.

If you want to, you can email me your answers and I can post your work on the blog. MrΒ Stewart is going to be choosing a star pupil every week for work they have produced or something they have done so email me your work and your pictures and I’m sure we will be very impressed. 🀩🀩

Mental Health Focus πŸ₯°β€οΈ Don’t compete against others, only compete to be the best version of you.

The school’s focus this week is mental health.Β  The blog posts and the guided reading will be tasks related to this focus. Β Please email me – gw17mccuecatherine@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk – if you want to chat or let me know how you’re doing. Β πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Every person needs to look after their mental health. Β That means you, your mum and dad, me and everyone else on this planet because we all have feelings and these feelings play a part in how we feel mentally.

We talk a lot about mental health in class and we focus on staying positive and looking for the good in situations. However, it is easy to become sad or worried about things, especially at times like just now because we don’t know what’s going to happen in the next weeks and months and everything is a bit uncertain. This is natural so don’t feel like it’s a bad thing to be feeling sad sometimes. The important thing is you talk to someone about your feelings. You could talk to a family member, a friend who you trust, you could email me or any other adult in our school.

If you want to, complete the two activities below. You can email me your answers by writing 1) Some days. I will know what the question is so you don’t need to write the question out. Β I will reply and we can chat about things. Β I’m going to do the activities too because I feel worried about things too sometimes.

You might do these activities and then think β€˜Oh no, I’m feeling really negative’. Don’t worry about that, it is good to find out what you’re worried about so we can work on how to make you feel better about it. Remember what I always tell you, you aren’t competing against anyone else, you’re competing to be the best version of yourself every day. πŸ’œπŸ’œ I am impressed by each and every one of you every day for different reasons so please remember how amazing you are and feel proud of this.

Love and miss you all lots,

Miss McCue xx

β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ

I was so busy yesterday that I didn’t have time to blog but I love this wee challenge so can you have a go at it?

Think about someone who you want to say thank you to for anything. You can email me your letters – gw17mccuecatherine@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk.

Happy Earth Day 🌍🌏🌎🌍

Happy Wednesday P6/7 πŸ€©πŸ’œ

I hope you enjoyed the video from Miss Cohen. Β She can’t wait to see all your replies.

I’m going to set some science, maths and wellbeing tasks for you. Β Remember, you don’t need to do all the tasks or any of the tasks but it is a good idea to keep your mind active during this situation so make sure you’re doing something that requires some thought. Feel free to email me any questions, pictures or for a chat – gw17mccuecatherine@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk

Today is known as Earth Day. Β Try out this Earth day challenge with your family and let me know how you get on. Maybe you could do the challenge when you are out for your daily exercise? You don’t need electricity when you’re walking in the sunshine β˜€οΈ πŸ₯³

Here are a couple of maths sheets on simplifying fractions. Remember, to simplify a fraction, you find a common multiple. That means, find a number that divides into the top number (numerator) and the bottom number (denominator). Have a go and you can email me and let me know how you get on or else leave a comment on this blog post Β

If you had a go at that one and want more challenge, try this activity.

You know that your well-being is the most important thing to me, especially at this strange time. Β πŸ’œπŸ’œ Β I love challenges like these And I’m going to take part in this one too. Β Have a go at these for the rest of this week and I guarantee you that doing this will make you and your family feel happier. Remember what we always say, just smiling at someone can make them and you feel so much better. Be kind, always.

Have a great day everyone. Β Love and miss you all lots πŸ’œπŸ’œ

😊😊

Hey everyone, welcome back to Term 4 πŸ’œπŸ’œ

It looks very different to usual but we are still going to have a fun time together and keep in touch as much as possible. If you can, leave a comment on this post so that we can all chat to each other and find out what everyone has been up to.

This morning, I had a zoom chat with all the staff in our school. There were about 40 people on it.  It was crazy trying to hear everyone so Mrs Harker had to mute us all to stop everyone talking at the same time  🀣🀣  We chatted about all of you and how we can do our best for you during this time.

Now, I’m having lunch in the garden. I made a big bowl of salad as I need to try and eat healthy now after eating lotttttsssss of choco at Easter time. πŸ‘€πŸ˜†

Let me know what you’re all up to today. I’m missing all your rubbish jokes and hilarious laughs. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

I have a surprise visitor coming onto our blog tomorrow. Can you guess who it is? Here are some clues –

this person is LOTS of fun, this person belongs to our St Albert’s family, this person is an amazing teacher, this person makes us all laugh, this person gives the best cuddles and this person is one of my best friends because they are kind and caring.

Leave a comment and guess who it is. All will be revealed tomorrow …

Time lapse and recipe for cookie making πŸͺπŸͺ

Good morning guys, I hope you’re all good. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Last night, I did some more baking and made banana oat cookies. These were really easy to make and I made them because my friend is pregnant and sometimes when women are pregnant, they crave different things to eat and drink so my friend is craving everything with banana!! Banana milkshake, banana slushes, banana bread, banana cookies. Β She will turn into a banana soon.  🍌🍌🍌🍌 So I’ve made these to give to her and I hope she enjoys them.
Click on the link below to watch a time lapse of me making banana oat cookies.Β

I liked making these because it kept me busy and they were really easy to do. If you have some bananas and some oats in your house, why don’t you see if you can follow my recipe and instructions to create your own banana oat cookies. I have written out instructions, just like we did in class. I’ve used adverbs of frequency and imperative verbs (bossy verbs). Can you spot any of them and tell me them in a comment?

I hope some of you can have a go at making these and enjoy them. 🍌πŸͺ These are my finished results.
