Our Setting work..

We have been working hard on creating settings and using different language techniques to help the reader visualise what they are reading. Here are some examples of work P4/5 have done on certain settings. See if you can spot any f the language techniques they have been learning to use. (Alliteration, Onomatopoeia, Similes, Metaphors, Personification)

Jalal Al Boushi:

There are lovely seas and beautiful houses in sight. It feels great to be here by the fantastic smells. Great big fish are being cooked by the top chefs. Loud noises come from great boats used for wid fishing. At night, whispering winds are as cold as having a snowball fight.

 

Safa Ahmed:

In the cities, there are lots of fantastic mountains, castles that are as tall as a clock tower, lots of noisy bus stations, interesting buildings, the River Clyde, Airports and long bridges. There are beautiful trees and flowers surrounding you and lots of car and people walking around.

 

Farah Kabir:

I can see big flats. I can see cars and buses. I can see big, colourful birds.  I can see a lot o parks with slides.

 

Ismaeel Shebhaz:

there are large mountains and big houses made from brick and stone. There are sheep eating the grass. There are sounds of children’s laughter and men building arcs for their houses. The rural village I surrounded by greenery and a ring of water.

 

Mayam Nisar:

In the city, there are lots of buildings that are as tall as Ben Nevis and rivers that are as wide as a shark’s mouth. There are busy buses going around the town. There are many people driving or walking around. There are also big clock towers ringing their bells.

 

Ahmed Abdulqader:

The rural landscape is a remote place with not many people. The one and only thing that I surrounding you is the beautiful, green mountains. There are many sheep; big ones, small ones, baby ones and old ones. All kind of sheep. The most fun part about living in a rural place, is that you can have a farm and you can go hiking.

 

Yusuf Rafiq:

The cities in Scotland have big, bold bridges, colossal, crazy castles and booming bus stations. There are different smells of stone, fierce footsteps and the sight of big statues, the taste of street old and the world beneath our feet.

 

Hikmah Aslam:

They have small flats and lots of different food places. There restaurants, take always and cafes and you can always smell the nice chips! There are lots of local shops and some farms.

 

Umarah Azhar:

In the city, there are fanastic, modern bridges that are as long as a snake. There are types of bridges in the cities such as Squinty bridge, modern brides etc. There are also bus stations and some airport.

 

Danial Nawaz:

The cities have modern bridges, airports (for military an civilians), ships and boats. Also, booming with nice people, the grass is green like the leaves of a tree. The polluted air smells like burnt cookies.

 

Eshal Fazal:

The rural landscape has the lovely, green mountains. There are lots and lots of sheep; baby sheep, adult sheep and elderly sheep. There is a farmer that looks after the animals there. There are beautiful, fluffy clouds in the sky, lovely, juicy grass that is pure green and green, green trees. The wind whistles through them.

 

Umar Qasim:

I see a lot of sheep and goats. I hear the farmer shouting, “if you don come back here, i will slay you while you sleep. The sheep and goats are white nd black. The only thing you can see surrounding you is big, beautiful mountains, that are as green as grass. The cottages are very nice and look very stable.
